It all started when...
customers in our Tap Room wanted to be able to pre-purchase a pint for a friend for the next time that friend came by our Tap Room. Then we had a Chetco fan who lives in another state ask if he could "gift a beer" from afar, so we made it available online. It's been a great program and has been a lot of fun in a "pay it forward kind of way". And then the Chetco Bar Fire happened. Suddenly Brookings became temporary home to about 8% of the United States Fire Fighters. Everyone has been grateful for their efforts... those here in Brookings and the area as well as Chetco fans from around the world.
We changed up our "Gift A Beer" program during the Chetco Bar Fire and offered them at a discounted rate when gifted to fire fighters (plus National Guard, US Forest Service, law enforecement, EMTs, etc). When one of our Chetco fans from afar wanted to gift a beer to a fire fighter, we made it available online.
To date, all of the beers have been gifted to the Chetco Protection League. Here's what Alex had to say about the program:
